EPS Reunion 2015

Welcome to the UCSC Earth and Planetary Sciences (formerly "Earth Sciences") 2015 Reunion Planning Page!

We are excited about connecting with many former students, staff, researchers and others who have a personal and/or professional connection to EPS at UCSC. We have planned a fun and illuminating set of events for the weekend of 8-10 May 2015, including field trips, presentations, and plenty of time to mingle and talk to old and new friends, and to enjoy local food and libations. On the rest of this page, we provide information and links to help you plan for the weekend. If you have questions, please direct them to Andy Fisher (afisher@ucsc.edu) or Amy Kornberg (amylkorn@ucsc.edu).

Here are three things you should do right away (please read the rest of this page for instructions/information):

(1) Review the schedule of events, to make sure you can participate in as many as possible.

(2) Respond to the links below to indicate which event(s) you plan to attend, which will help us to make sure we have adequate space, food, and drinks. Sign-ups are more formal for the field trips, as described below.

(3) Book housing and/or make contact with other reunion participants, as described below.

(1) Review the EPS Reunion 2015 Schedule

Here is the schedule for the EPS Reunion weekend. We are continuing to refine the schedule, so please check back as we get closer to the events.

(2) Sign up for EPS Reunion 2015 Events

If you have not done so already, please tell us which EPS Reunion event(s) you plan to attend using this webform. This will help to make sure we have enough food, drinks, and space for planned participants.

In addition, if you plan to participate on one of the field trips, 5/9, 8:30 am – 12 pm, please register here:

(a) Sign up for EPS Reunion Field Trip led by J. Casey Moore, Bob Garrison, and Gary Holzhausen: Natural Hydrofracturing on the Central Coast

(b) Sign up for EPS Reunion Field Trip led by J. Weber: Marine Terraces, Coastal Erosion and the San Gregorio Fault Zone

As described on the webforms, each trip will be limited by the number of spaces available in the vans (or a small bus, if we have enough people to justify rental). Once you register, you can see where you are on the list, and you will be shown a URL where you can see a complete listing of participants, edit your entry, etc. If there is enough demand, we will see about making more space or offering additional trips.

(3) Organize logistics for your trip

Arrange for lodging and/or make connection with other participants to share rides, etc.

Coordinate travel/lodging with other EPS Reunion participants

We created a GoogleDocs form where people can enter information if they would like to share driving, lodging and/or coordinate other reunion activities.

Please note: the EPS Reunion Connection page is open to anyone who has the link, and all entries can be edited by anyone with access.

Here are some maps/directions that may be helpful.

Directions to Santa Cruz/UCSC with written directions and maps showing location of UCSC relative to regional airports, major roads, etc.

On Friday afternoon, 5/8, you will need a parking pass (from Kiosk or parking office, as shown). On Saturday, 5/9, you can park in the garage (and most A-permit lots) without a pass.
