Earth and Planetary Sciences Undergraduate Program Learning Outcomes

The undergraduate curriculum offered by the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) is designed to ensure that students graduating with a B.S. in EPS (all concentrations) will have achieved the following four Program Learning Outcomes.

1. Students will be able to understand the processes governing the properties and evolution of Earth's interior and surface.

2. Students will be able to identify rocks and minerals, and describe their connection to geologic processes.

3. Students will be able to utilize algebraic mathematical tools to quantitatively address questions in the geosciences.

4. Students will be able to write in a clear, organized, and logical fashion using disciplinary standards for reporting and citation.
