Title: The Search for Lunar Ice

Time: Friday, Sept 26 at 12:00pm PST

Location: EMS B210

Abstract: Crater floors near the Moon’s North and South poles are permanently shadowed from sunlight, allowing these regions to act as cold traps for capturing volatiles such as water ice. A mixture of modeling and remote-sensing data have provided predictions for the depth, stability, and abundance of water ice within these regions. Here, I will discuss my work with the instruments built for planned lunar lander/rover missions and how they will provide ground truth data for these observations.
