Health and Wellness
We want all our E&PS students to feel safe, strong and well. We understand that college is a challenging time. Fortunately, UCSC offers many programs to help you balance life, health and school.
Student Health Outreach & Promotion (SHOP) is where students can go to learn about health and wellness in a safe, non-judgmental environment. SHOP offers information, education, resources and support on issues such as Alcohol and other Drug Use, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Sexual Health, and College Life balance. All UCSC students are welcome and encouraged to drop in and speak with SHOP's trained staff.
Campus Advocacy Resources and Education (CARE) offers free and confidential services to UCSC students, staff and faculty impacted by sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. They provide guidance and support for survivors, as well as significant others, friends, and those who may not identify as victims or survivors, but may be trying to sort out their feelings about an experience or relationship. They welcome all gender identities, religious affiliations, cultural identities, abilities, and legal and immigration statuses.
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) goal is to meet the mental health needs of UCSC students. CAPS services include groups, workshops, brief individual therapy, Let's Talk drop-in consultations, crisis intervention, referrals, couples counseling, educational outreach (e.g., through workshops, our newsletter, and social media), consultation for non-clients (e.g., staff, faculty, family members), and limited ADHD testing.
